Pre-Professional Programs Major, BS – Pre-Veterinary Medicine Concentration
|
|
The following program is designed for students who wish to pursue an arts and sciences degree while preparing for the study of veterinary medicine. Students in this program must complete at least 93 credit hours while enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, must satisfy the Basic Skills and Distribution requirements, and must complete the last 30 hours in residence at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, before enrolling in the College of Veterinary Medicine. A departmental major is not required. Upon successful completion of the first year (two semesters) of the professional veterinary medicine curriculum, the Bachelor of Science degree will be conferred by the College of Arts and Sciences.
Admission to the College of Veterinary Medicine is at the discretion of the Admissions Committee of that College; admission to and successful completion of this program do not assure admission to the College of Veterinary Medicine.
uTrack Requirements
Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students who first entered Fall 2013 or later. uTrack does not apply to transfer students who entered prior to Fall 2015.
Following the sample academic plan and its uTrack milestones will help students stay on track to graduate in four years. For specific course requirements, refer to the Arts and Sciences requirements listed in the Catalog, and consult an academic advisor.
