2017-2018 Undergraduate Catalog [ARCHIVED CATALOG]

Medical Laboratory Science Major, BS

Students who complete the medical laboratory science curriculum receive the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in medical laboratory science from the College of Arts and Sciences. The curriculum requires a minimum of 90 hours of credit which includes the foundations, perspectives, and connections requirements of the college and the University General Education Requirement prior to application for admission to a final year of study at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville (UTMCK). A grade of at least a C must be earned in each of the required chemistry, biology, and math courses. A bulletin describing the medical laboratory science program in detail may be obtained from Arts and Sciences Advising Services.

uTrack Requirements

Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones may include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students who first entered Fall 2013 or later. uTrack does not apply to transfer students who enter prior to Fall 2015.

Following the sample academic plan and its uTrack milestones will help students stay on track to graduate in four years. For specific course requirements, refer to the description of the major and the Arts and Sciences requirements  listed in the Catalog, and consult an academic advisor.
