The College of Engineering offers a graduate certificate in reliability and maintainability engineering. The program is designed primarily for part-time students in that all of the courses are available through distance education (see http://anywhere.tennessee.edu/de/programs/ne/). The 12-hour certificate is earned by completing NE 483 and NE 484 , which are cross-listed among all participating departments in the College of Engineering, plus two elective courses selected from a list of courses provided by the participating departments – Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, Industrial and Information Engineering, Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering, and Nuclear Engineering. Currently, the available elective courses are CBE 562 , IE 516 and IE 591 , ME 534 and ME 599 , NE 579 and NE 585 . The selection of elective courses is determined through an advising conference with each individual student, and is based on the student’s personal interests, academic background, and work experience. Applicants must meet the minimum criteria established by the Graduate Council.
