Biological Sciences Major, BS – Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology Concentration

The biological sciences major offers concentrations in biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology; ecology and evolutionary biology; microbiology; and plant biology. To declare biology as a major, CHEM 120 -CHEM 130 and BIOL 111 -BIOL 112 or BIOL 130 must be completed with a minimum grade of C.

Biological Sciences Major — Prerequisites to all Concentrations
BCMB Concentration
The concentration consists of 32 hours. II. Select (16 total credit hours):

Note:
No more than 9 of the 16 credit hours may be in non-BCMB courses. Honors Option
An honors option is offered to students with a cumulative GPA in biological sciences prerequisite courses of 3.5 or above and who have completed BIOL 130 -BIOL 140 -BIOL 240 -BIOL 250 . The honors option also requires a substantive research project carried out under the supervision of a biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology faculty member and a thesis describing the results of that project. The thesis must be approved by the faculty supervisor. |
