POLS 469 - The Politics of Genocide and Ethnic Cleansing: Theory, Prevention, and Aftermath3 Credit Hours Genocide is an ancient practice. Not until recently, however, has the international community endeavored to prevent and punish such violence. This course examines why state and non-state actors commit these atrocities, the effects of genocide on both its perpetrators and victims, and what the international community can do to prevent and punish these crimes.
