CEM 604 - Principles of Comparative Pharmacokinetics3 Credit Hours Addresses the fundamental principles of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination of xenobiotics (drugs, poisons, environmental chemicals, etc.) in animals and humans. Quantitative aspects will include basic study design as well as mathematical modeling of plasma concentration vs time data. Hands-on sessions will include basics of pharmacokinetics modeling, case studies in clinical patients, bioequivalence studies, pharmacokinetic linearity, and the effect of factors on the fate of chemicals in the body of animals and humans. Contact Hour Distribution: 2 hours and 1 lab. Recommended Background: Previous academic exposure in physiology, biostatistics, or mathematical modeling. Registration Restriction(s): Minimum student level – graduate or permission of instructor.
