GERM 436 - History of the German Language

3 Credit Hours
Development of the German language from Indo-European through Proto-Germanic, Old High German, Middle High German to New High German. Internal and external linguistic history of German speech.
Cross-listed: (Same as Linguistics 436.)

Recommended Background: 6 hours of upper-division German language courses, excluding courses in translation and graduate reading courses.
