World Languages and Cultures Major, BA - Language and World Business/Hispanic Studies Five-Year BA/MA Program

For qualified students, the Department of World Languages and Cultures offers a five-year BA/MA program with a BA major in Language and World Business/Hispanic studies concentration and an MA major in Spanish. Qualified students take 6-9 credit hours of approved graduate courses for their senior undergraduate electives which count toward both the BA and the MA degrees. This 5-Year BA/MA is a coursework only option without comprehensive exam.
Qualifications for admission to the program are:
- The student must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00 and a cumulative GPA of 3.50 in undergraduate Spanish and business courses.
- Conditional and full admission must be approved by the Department of World Languages and Cultures and by the Graduate School.
- Conditional admission may be granted after completion of 64 credit hours of the requirements for the BA in Language and World Business/Hispanic Studies concentration.
- Conditional admission must be obtained before taking a graduate course that is to be used to satisfy the requirements of both the BA degree and the MA degree.
- Full admission may be granted after completion of 96 credit hours of the requirements for the BA in Language and World Business/Hispanic Studies concentration.
- Any course taken for graduate credit, prior to satisfying all requirements for the BA degree, must be approved by the department head (or designee) and by the Graduate School.
- A student will not be eligible for a graduate assistantship until the student has satisfied all of the requirements for the BA degree.

Credit Hours Required
- Minimum of 30 graduate credit hours
I. Language Requirement
- 21 credit hours of approved graduate courses in Spanish, including 6-9 that count toward both the BA degree and the MA degree.
- A maximum of 3 credit hours taken at the 400-level may be applied (only those 400-level courses that appear in the Graduate Catalog qualify as graduate hours).
II. Business Requirement
- 9 graduate hours from the following list.
