Religious Studies Minor - Religion, Race, and Ethnicity

The Religion, Race, and Ethnicity minor consists of 15 hours in the department of Religious Studies. No more than 3 hours may be taken at the 100 or 200 level, and the rest must be at the 300-level or above. Students are encouraged to discuss their program with a faculty member in the department.

I. Complete (3 Credit Hours)

REST 353* - Religion, Race, and Ethnicity in North America 3 Credit Hours

II. Select two courses from the following (6 Credit Hours)

REST 339* - Islam in the Modern World 3 Credit Hours
REST 350 - Black Power to Black Lives Matter in African American Religious Thought 3 Credit Hours
REST 352* - African American Religion in the United States 3 Credit Hours
REST 356* - Vodou Gods and Atlantic Perils: African Religions in the New World 3 Credit Hours
REST 361* - The American Jewish Experience 3 Credit Hours
REST 380* - American Buddhism 3 Credit Hours

III. Select 3 hours

REST 101, REST 103, or any remaining Religious Studies courses at the 200 level and above (may include other courses in section II).

REST 101* - Religions of the World 3 Credit Hours
REST 103* - Religions in the U.S. 3 Credit Hours
or any other Religious Studies course at the 200 level or above

IV. Select 3 hours

any remaining Religious Studies courses at the 300 level and above (may include other courses in section II).
