Africana Studies Minor


The Africana Studies minor provides students with a foundational understanding of African and African American histories, cultures, and societies. Anchored by core courses in African and African American history students explore the global dimensions of Black life through interdisciplinary coursework in literature, health, politics, and the arts. The minor complements a wide range of majors and prepares students to engage critically and creatively with an everchanging world of work and community.

Minor Requirements


The following are required in the concentration which consists of 15 hours from the Africana studies curriculum. A maximum of 3 hours in AFST 492  and AFST 493  combined can be applied toward the minor.
