Architecture Major, Bachelor of Architecture - Master of Landscape Architecture Preparatory Track

Qualified students in the architecture program may consider a course of study that will give them advanced placement in the Master of Landscape Architecture degree program. Completing this path allows Bachelor of Architecture graduates to gain advanced standing in the graduate landscape architecture program, satisfying degree requirements in one year rather than three. This path only applies to the degree program offered at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. For more information, see the Graduate Catalog.
Requirements for architecture students pursuing this degree path:
- The student must meet with directors from both the architecture and the landscape architecture programs during their fourth year, or earlier.
- The student must have an earned minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
- The student must complete the following requirements before entering the Master of Landscape Architecture program with advanced placement.
The student must also follow the normal procedure and deadline for admission to the Graduate School and to the Master of Landscape Architecture program in the College of Architecture and Design.

uTrack Requirements
Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students.
Term 1
- 3 Non-Architecture Elective 3 Credit Hours
Term 7
- 6 Professional Elective 9 Credit Hours
Term 8
- Life Science Elective 3 Credit Hours

- Students are not allowed to enroll simultaneously in two of these design courses.
- Students are exempt from MATH 125 * with a score of 3 or higher on Calculus AB or Calculus BC AP exam.
- Chosen from any courses outside architecture, interior architecture, and landscape architecture not already required for the major.
- Chosen from the Volunteer Core list.
- Any course not already required for the major.
- Chosen from any 300-599 architecture course, any 500-599 landscape architecture course, or any 300-499 interior architecture, graphic design, or industrial design course.
- Students are required to participate in a school-approved study abroad or off-campus semester of study, minimum 12 credit hours including a 6 credit hour design studio. Study will typically occur in the fall or spring of fourth-year, the fall of fifth-year, or the summers after the third or fourth years of study.
