Major Requirements

The concentration in Greek consists of 27 hours.

Select 18 hours:

Select 9 hours:

any 200-level or above Classics courses (see note below)
HIST 382 - Archaeology of the Biblical World
HIST 400 - History and Archaeology of Mesopotamia
PHIL 320 - Ancient Western Philosophy

Note:

CLAS 201 and CLAS 273 may not be used for the major.

Honors Concentration

The Honors Greek concentration consists of 29 hours. The student must maintain a minimum B+ average in Greek language courses and a minimum cumulative B+ average at UT. In addition, of the 9 non-language hours described above, 6 must be in courses numbered 300 or higher. In total, the student must take a minimum of 15 hours of Honors courses, not all of which need to be in the major subject area. The student will present an Honors thesis, for which 2 hours of independent study credit will be earned; the thesis must receive a grade of B+ or higher to permit graduation with Honors.
