Communication Studies Major, BA in Communication – Honors Program

The School of Communication Studies offers an honors program that provides a rewarding educational experience for exceptional students. All students must complete CMST 201 * or CMST 207 *; CMST 210 * or CMST 217 *, CMST 240 * or CMST 247 *; and/or CMST 250 . After completing these required courses with a cumulative GPA of 3.5, students are eligible to apply for admission to the communication studies honors program. To graduate with honors, students must maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA in all courses in the major and a 3.25 cumulative GPA in all university courses.

uTrack Requirements

Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students.

9 Two courses (6 hours) chosen from advertising, advertising and public relations, communication and information, communication studies, information sciences, journalism and electronic media, and/or public relations. CMST 392  may be counted toward this requirement.
10 Two courses (6 hours taken at the 300-400 level). These courses may be used to complete a minor or may be a combination of classes from all departments except Advertising, Advertising and Public Relations, Communication and Information, Communication Studies, Counselor Education, First Year Studies, Information Sciences, Journalism and Electronic Media, Physical Education, and Public Relations.
11 Choose from any courses not already required for the major.
