Disasters, Displacement, and Human Rights Graduate Certificate

The graduate certificate in Disasters, Displacement and Human Rights (DDHR) is intended for currently admitted degree and non-degree seeking graduate students wishing to develop specialized knowledge and research skills in the anthropological study of natural and unnatural disasters and humanitarian crises, forced migration, and human rights investigations, policies, practices, and norms. Admissions Standards/Procedures

  • Graduate students in other departments and Colleges are eligible for the certificate by application to, and approval by, the Anthropology faculty.
    • Departmental prerequisites may be waived for accepted graduate students in other departments and Colleges.
  • Non-degree seeking graduate students are eligible for the certificate by application to, and approval by, the Graduate School and the Anthropology faculty.

Academic Standards

  • A minimum 3.0 GPA must be earned in all certificate courses.
  • The certificate reflects specialized academic training only and does not authorize holders as practitioners in any field.
  • The certificate will be issued upon university graduation following approval of the Graduate School.
