Readings and discussion to include Alexander the Great and the expansion of the Greek world; monarchism, ruler-cult and the Greek city-state; economy and society in the Ptolemaic, Seleucid and Antigonid kingdoms; the arrival of Rome in the eastern Mediterranean; ancient and modern historiographies of Hellenistic Greece.
