AC 103 - Applied Computing in Emerging Technologies3 Credit Hours This course introduces students to applied computing in the context of rapidly evolving technologies that shape business, health, agriculture, arts, social sciences, finance, and national security. Unlike a traditional applied computing course focused primarily on programming and algorithms, this course emphasizes practical technical skills alongside conceptual, ethical, and policy dimensions of computing. Students will gain hands-on experience with tools for data analysis, visualization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud and edge computing, and blockchain. Discipline spotlights are integrated each week to show how computing intersects with careers across sectors. Students complete a sequence of applied mini-projects and a final portfolio that demonstrate their skill development.
