MUCO 454 - Music, Soundscapes, and the Environment

3 Credit Hours
Study of music, sound, and environment around the globe. Explores theoretical frameworks from sound studies and ecomusicology. Typical case studies include: women, song, and environmental justice in South Africa; Tuvan throat singing in central Asia; sound in the construction of early America; contemporary Nordic sonic identities; the role of sound in experiences of war and trauma.
