GEOG 111* - Digital Earth: Maps, Society, and Environment

3 Credit Hours
Introduces students to the foundations of spatial data, cartography, and geographic analysis. The course combines quantitative approaches to mapping with critical perspectives on how geographic information shapes our understanding of society and the environment. Students will explore a variety of geographic methods through hands-on work with geospatial datasets and accessible tools. Topics include the ethics of spatial data, geospatial analysis of our environment, and the social implications of mapping technologies. Appropriate for STEM and non-STEM majors alike, the course prepares students to think critically and quantitatively about the role of data and maps in contemporary life.
