NE 406 - Radiation Shielding

3 Credit Hours
Types of radiation sources, fundamentals of gamma ray and neutron attenuation, biological effects, dosimetry, approximate methods of shield design, and use of modern analysis tools, including discrete ordinates and Monte Carlo.  The course includes applications to both nuclear fission and fusion. 

(RE) Prerequisite(s): NE 233  or NE 433 , PHYS 252 , or consent of instructor.
