MSE 571 - Ion Beam Analysis of Materials3 Credit Hours Fundamental aspects of modern ion beam analysis of materials, including elastic nuclear scattering, nuclear reaction analysis, ion beam channeling, and ion microscopy based on charge particle optics. Core concepts of ion beam modification of materials and examples of the far-from-equilibrium microstructures created. This will include lab experience with both ion beam analysis and modification techniques at the Tennessee Ion Beam Materials Lab. Cross-listed: (Same as: Nuclear Engineering 544.)
