WFS 435 - Wildlife Research Design2 Credit Hours This course will introduce students to the complete wildlife research process from idea development to reporting research results. Lecture topics will include idea development, literature review, formulation of testable hypotheses, study design, research methodology, funding sources (federal, state, non-profit, Pittman-Robertson, Dingell-Johnson, etc.), permitting and protocols (IACUC, IRB, federal, state, etc.), data management, basic data analysis, and various methods for reporting research results (conference posters and presentations, funding agency updates, annual reports, peer reviewed publications, etc.). At the end of the course, students should be able to broadly design the goals of a wildlife research project from start to finish. This course is designed for students who are interested in pursuing research scientist positions or attending graduate school.
