ARTH 443 - Islamic Art in Global Context I: Medieval3 Credit Hours Explores the role of art and material culture in the development of Islam beginning with its establishment on the Arabian Peninsula in the seventh century. Focusing on cultural relationships with Roman religion, Christianity, and Judaism, we consider the interconnected nature of architectural and artistic milestones across the Mediterranean world and beyond, stretching from Spain and North Africa in the West to the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, and Iran in the East.
