NE 582 - Transport Theory: Monte Carlo

Modeling and simulation of neutral particle transport in nuclear systems. Transport theory through the Boltzmann transport equation. Source driven and criticality calculations. Energy discretization and multi-group transport equations. Relevant nuclear data. The adjoint transport equation. Probability distribution functions. Monte Carlo solutions of the transport equation. Error estimates. Non-analog Monte Carlo and variance reduction methods. Modern Monte Carlo transport codes.
Recommended Background: Prior programming experience (in any programming language) is required.
