LAW 920 - Trial Practice3 Credit Hours A simulation course in which students learn the fundamentals and practice the techniques of preparing and presenting a case to a judge or jury, while confronting the ethical questions associated with trial practice. Using hypothetical case files, students prepare and discuss case theory and theme; prepare and present opening statements, direct examinations, cross-examinations, and closing arguments; and participate in a pretrial conference. During class, the emphasis is on individual performance and critique. Each student conducts a complete trial at the end of the course. Grading Restriction: Numeric grading (JD students); A-F grading (other graduate students). (RE) Prerequisite(s): 813 (except students in advocacy concentration). (RE) Corequisite(s): 813 for students in the advocacy concentration. Registration Restriction(s): JD students; other graduate students with instructor permission.
