CE 559 - Transportation Safety3 Credit Hours Transportation safety defined from a multi-disciplinary perspective and characterized by crashes, injuries and deaths. Significant challenges to transportation safety are identified. Environmental, roadway, vehicle, and human factors involved in crashes are explored using descriptive analysis and advanced modeling/simulation techniques. Discussion of current state-of-the-practice in Highway Safety Manual. Recommended Background: Introduction to transportation engineering equivalent to CE 355. Registration Restriction(s): Engineering graduate or senior undergraduate standing.
