CLAS 302 - History of Greece I3 Credit Hours Greek history from the collapse of Mycenaean civilization to the end of the Peloponnesian War (ca. 1200 - 404 B.C.), with emphasis on the origin and development of the city-state (polis) in the Archaic and Classical periods. Discussion centers on the two most important and powerful city-states, Sparta and Athens, and their influence on the Greek world. Other topics covered are the Dark Ages, Archaic colonization and tyranny, the Delian League, and the Persian wars.
