Justice Studies Graduate Certificate

The Graduate Certificate in Justice Studies (JUST) offers graduate students the opportunity to develop a unique approach to the critical study of justice, knowing that no single vision exists nor works to solve all injustice issues. Students will examine foundational theories and approaches to justice across a wide variety of topics at local and global levels, choosing from a wide array of methodological approaches. This certificate offers the training needed for analyzing social, economic, cultural, political, and legal inequalities while promoting pathways to more just societies. The Justice Studies Program also serves as home to the curriculum of the Appalachian Justice Research Center, with its research focus on regional community justice issues and the Appalachian Justice Research Lab.
If you are a currently enrolled master’s or doctoral student who would like additional training in the study and/or envisioning of justice, the Justice Studies program unites students and faculty across disciplinary boundaries to critically analyze and strategically create social change through projects focused on equity and social transformation, an excellent complement to any primary graduate degree.
