Admissions Standards/Procedures

Individuals must be currently enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Tennessee or can apply solely for the Evaluation Methodology Certificate through the Graduate Admissions Office. 

Credit Hours Required

12 graduate credit hours

Required Courses

• ESM 533 - Program Evaluation I
• ESM 534 - Program Evaluation II
• ESM 570 - Disseminating Evaluation Results

• Select one of the following:

• ESM 560 - Evaluation Designs and Data Collection Methods
• ESM 581 - Educational Assessment
• ESM 583 - Survey Research
• ESM 670 - Internship in Evaluation, Statistics, and Methodology

Non-Course Requirements

To receive the certificate, students must:

1. submit an appropriate work sample (e.g., a completed evaluation report) that showcases their skills in evaluation. This work sample will be reviewed by the certificate coordinator. 
2. complete the Graduate Certificate Course Verification Form and
3. through MyUTK, apply to graduate from the certificate program.
