Business Analytics Major, MS

The Master of Science degree with a major in Business Analytics is designed as preparation for a career in the application of analytics and quantitative methods to complex problems in all areas of business.

Business Analytics coursework will expose students to a broad range of decision analysis techniques and tools and facilitate the application of these methodologies to real-world business problems. The coursework will further integrate communication and teamwork skills with a knowledge base in business analytics.

Admissions Standards/Procedures


  • Formal online application submitted to the Haslam College of Business
  • Two applicant recommendation forms.
  • A quantitative assessment, such as the GRE, GMAT, or similar, is strongly encouraged.
  • A formal interview is required.
  • While applications are encouraged from all majors, a strong quantitative background and knowledge of statistical programming are beneficial for excelling in this program.

Academic Standards


A grade of D or below in any core course is grounds for dismissal from the Master’s in Business Analytics Program.

36 graduate credit hours.

Supplementary Courses (10.5 credit hours)


Must be selected in consultation with and approved by the student’s advisor.

Non-Course Requirements


In lieu of Comprehensive Exams, students must complete and pass a 1-semester project (BZAN 550) as part of the degree requirement, as listed above.
