Return to: Undergraduate Degrees, Majors, Concentrations, Minors, and Certificates
This program is designed for students who are interested in working in disability-related fields other than teaching. Completion of this program results in a Bachelor of Science degree without teacher licensure. Students who want to become teachers should apply to one of the Teacher Education concentrations under the Special Education major. Because this program involves participation in service learning and/or field experiences with children / adults who have disabilities, a background check is required prior to enrollment in field experience or service-learning courses. Professional liability insurance also is required for all field experience / service-learning courses. Students must enroll in SPED courses for a minimum of 15 credit hours.
Progression Requirements
Students interested in this degree should work closely with their advisors to ensure that they understand program requirements and how to leverage coursework toward future career aspirations. Students interested in working for non-profit organizations are highly encouraged to seek a minor in Social Entrepreneurship, Leadership Studies, or Social Justice. Students must complete the program with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
