Nuclear Security Policy for Engineers Minor

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Undergraduate Degrees, Majors, Concentrations, Minors, and Certificates

The minor in Nuclear Security Policy for Engineers would provide nuclear engineering undergraduate students with coursework on nuclear security from a policy perspective, with a focus on international politics, organizations, and regulations as well as a technical and scientific perspective in terms of policy enforcement and compliance by engineers and scientists. With this training, undergraduate nuclear engineering students would be prepared to work at the intersection of policy and practice in the development and trade of nuclear capabilities for energy and defense. Students with this training would be more competitive for strategy and leadership roles in nuclear security-focused companies in the private sector and for the increasingly broad set of public sector careers tied to nuclear security policy.

The Nuclear Security Policy for Engineers Minor consists of 16 credit hours of coursework and is coordinated through a partnership between the Tickle College of Engineering and the Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs.
