Applied Engineering Major, BS in Engineering - Applied Computer Science Concentration

Return to {$returnto_text} Return to: Majors, A-Z

The BS in Engineering program is structured to address the dynamic needs of modern industries in TN, offering four concentrations in manufacturing, aerospace, energy conversion and storage, and computer science. This program, which consists of over 120 credit hours, includes Vol Core requirements, engineering fundamental courses, soft skills, project-based practicum courses, and engineering courses emphasizing hands-on training to attain learning outcomes.  Designed to be more accessible and practical, the curriculum reduces the traditional calculus requirement, opting instead to build calculus competency through project work, simulations, experimentation, and practice. This innovative approach ensures that students acquire essential mathematical skills in a context that directly relates to engineering applications. The program will be delivered face-to-face to provide students with the essential hands-on training necessary for applied engineering.

Campus: Knoxville

uTrack Requirements

Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students.
