Challenges and Solutions of Climate and the Environment in Latin America and the Caribbean provides a natural science-oriented interdisciplinary exploration of one of the most ecologically diverse regions in the world. This concentration invites students to delve into the environmental and climatological dynamics of the region while examining the links between these issues and the political and societal conflicts that arise. Through an integrative approach, students will engage with courses from departments such as Anthropology, Geography, History, World Languages and Cultures, Political Science, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, and Sociology. This diverse curriculum will enable students to cultivate a nuanced and comprehensive understanding of the environmental and climatological challenges facing the region and the potential solutions to address them.

Major Requirements
The general studies track requires 30 hours taken from courses offered by at least three different academic departments. Select 3 hours:
- Any upper division course taught in French, Portuguese, or Spanish.
Select 27 hours (at least 21 hours must be upper division):

Additional courses not listed above may be petitioned for credit upon successful completion with the Chair of Latin American and Caribbean studies when the course contains significant content focused on Latin America, the Caribbean and/or Latinos in the United States and elsewhere. * Meets Volunteer Core Requirements .
