American Civics Certificate

The Institute of American Civics in the Howard H. Baker Jr. School of Public Policy and Public Affairs (Baker School) offers an American Civics Certificate. The American Civics Certificate consists of 12 credit hours of coursework. Baker School majors in Public Affairs are not eligible to earn this certificate.

Admission Standards/Procedures


Students seeking admission to the Undergraduate Certificate must meet the admissions standards established by the Undergraduate Council.

Academic Standards


Students must complete all courses from this list with a 2.5 GPA or higher for the American Civics Certificate.

Non-Course Requirements


Students may pursue this Undergraduate Certificate on a full-time or part-time basis. They must earn all hours of this program at the University of Tennessee.
