Sociology Major, BA - Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Concentration

The Sociology major consists of 31 hours. Ideally, students will take SOCI 321 and SOCI 331* no later than their junior year. SOCI 480 will be taken in the senior year. An honors concentration is available.

The Critical Race and Ethnic Studies concentration is grounded in a theoretical tradition focused on a critical perspective to understanding race and ethnicity. Through a critical and historical lens, courses in the area interrogate how racial and ethnic categories coalesce around structural inequalities and across multiple geographies.

Requirements are SOCI 225* or SOCI 343* and two additional courses of either SOCI 452 , SOCI 460 , SOCI 466 , or SOCI 472* .
