Architecture Major, Bachelor of Architecture - Traditional Track

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Architecture degree includes a combination of required and elective courses offering the student both a solid professional program of study and a sound general education. While the majority of courses are designated as required, students may use the available architecture and general electives to broaden their education and to expand their knowledge in areas of personal interest.

All students studying for a Bachelor of Architecture degree will complete the following requirements in their course of study. For any additional specialized requirements, the student should refer to the Student Handbook of the School of Architecture and the student’s professional advisor.

uTrack Requirements


Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students.

  1. Students are not allowed to enroll simultaneously in two of these design courses.
  2. Students are exempt from MATH 125 * with a score of 3 or higher on Calculus AB or Calculus BC AP exam.
  3. Chosen from any courses outside architecture, interior architecture, and landscape architecture not already required for the major.
  4. Chosen from the Volunteer Core  list.
  5. Any course not already required for the major.
  6. Chosen from any 300-499 architecture, graphic design, industrial design, interior architecture, or landscape architecture course. If a student is in a declared minor, 6 CH of minor credit may substitute for required professional elective credit.
  7. Students are required to participate in a school-approved study abroad or off-campus semester of study, minimum 12 credit hours including a 6 credit hour design studio. Study will typically occur in the fall or spring of fourth-year, the fall of fifth-year, or the summers after the third or fourth years of study.
