Haslam Leadership Scholars is an intimate, four-year, cohort-based academic leadership development program that honors the legacy of the Haslam family in identifying, developing, and supporting community-minded students with outstanding commitment and potential to provide the leadership needed to address complex problems in Tennessee.
Eligibility
Admission to Haslam Leadership Scholars is available to entering first-year students. Highly accomplished students with demonstrated commitment to leadership, service, and civic engagement and who aspire to leverage their leadership to enrich the lives of the people and communities across the state of Tennessee and beyond are strongly encouraged to apply.
Curricular Requirements
The Haslam Leadership Scholars curriculum includes an honors induction seminar, communication development, a leadership course sequence, and individual and group capstone projects that have substantial scholarly, scientific, community, industry, and/or artistic value.

Total credit hours required: 17 hours
Haslam Leadership Scholars are generously supported to deepen their Honors experience through participation and leadership in campus and community opportunities. Haslam Leadership Scholars are also encouraged to participate in one or more of the University of Tennessee’s many specialized college or departmental honors programs
Haslam Leadership Scholars are expected to make timely progress towards graduation while maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Students not meeting expectations will be required to complete supplemental academic coaching and support with University Honors staff.
In recognition of their exceptional academic achievement, Haslam Leadership Scholars receive special graduation accolades.
