Sociology Major, BA – Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Concentration
The Sociology major consists of 31 hours. Ideally, students will take SOCI 321 and SOCI 331 no later than their junior year. SOCI 480 will be taken in the senior year. An honors concentration is available.
The Critical Race and Ethnic Studies concentration is grounded in a theoretical tradition focused on a critical perspective to understanding race and ethnicity. Through a critical and historical lens, courses in the area interrogate how racial and ethnic categories coalesce around structural inequalities and across multiple geographies.
Requirements are SOCI 225 or SOCI 343 and two additional courses of either SOCI 452 , SOCI 460 , SOCI 466 , or SOCI 472 .
