Students may choose a thesis or non-thesis option in nutrition. Attendance of Nutrition NUTR 540 is required every semester.
Thesis Option
The program consists of a minimum of 33 hours with at least 16 hours of coursework in the department.
- Nutrition science students must take NUTR 511 , NUTR 512 , NUTR 540 , (2 credits) attendance required every semester, NUTR 541 , and 3 hours of graduate-level statistics.
- Public health nutrition students must take NUTR 509 , NUTR 511 , NUTR 512 , NUTR 513 , NUTR 514 , NUTR 515 , NUTR 541 , a lifecycle nutrition course and PUBH 520 , PUBH 530 , PUBH 540 .
- 6 hours of Thesis NUTR 500 and 6 hours outside the department are required.
- A minimum of 22 hours at the 500 or 600 level is required.
- An oral comprehensive examination is required upon completion of the thesis.
Non-Thesis Option
The program consists of a minimum of 36 hours with at least 20 hours of coursework in the department.
- Nutrition science students must take NUTR 511 , NUTR 512 , NUTR 540 , (2 credits) attendance required every semester, NUTR 541 , and 3 hours of graduate level statistics.
- Public health nutrition students must take NUTR 509 , NUTR 511 , NUTR 512 , NUTR 513 , NUTR 514 , NUTR 515 , NUTR 541 , a lifecycle nutrition course and PUBH 520 , PUBH 530 , PUBH 540 .
- 6 hours in one area outside the department are required.
- A minimum of 24 hours at the 500 and 600 level is required.
- A written comprehensive examination is required for completion of the program. For public health nutrition students, a written analytical block field experience paper is required also for completion of the program. Nutrition science students are also required to complete a culminating experience and written analytical paper for completion of the program.
