Plant Sciences Major, BS in Plant Sciences – Landscape Design Concentration

Landscape designers create aesthetic concepts and practical designs for improved outdoor living. Students study fundamental and advanced landscape design, landscape design graphics, computer-aided landscape design, surveying, art, socio-economic impact of plants, field botany, professional practices, contracting, basic woody plant identification, landscape construction and maintenance methods. The development of comprehensive design projects helps students prepare for careers in landscape design or advanced studies in landscape architecture. Graduates in design are prepared for employment in several professions in ornamental horticulture. Careful selection of departmental courses and other electives in consultation with the assigned academic advisor will allow graduates to pursue suitable career paths. A minimum grade point average of 2.25 is required for all plant sciences courses taken in the major.

uTrack Requirements (for students entering Fall 2013 or later)

Universal Tracking (uTrack) is an academic monitoring system designed to help students stay on track for timely graduation. In order to remain on track, students must complete the minimum requirements for each tracking semester, known as milestones. Milestones include successful completion of specified courses and/or attainment of a minimum GPA. uTrack requirements only affect full-time, degree-seeking students who first entered Fall 2013 or later. uTrack does not apply to transfer students who enter prior to Fall 2015.
