Art Education Major (serves as a second major only with a BA in Art or a BFA in Studio Art)

Students seeking licensure to teach art in the schools pursue the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a major in studio art or the Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in art in the College of Arts and Sciences and will complete a major in art education at the undergraduate level. The undergraduate major in art education includes the following.

 Arts and Sciences 

Post-Baccalaureate Professional Year (24 graduate hours)


The following courses are taken during the post-baccalaureate professional year. Students must apply to and be admitted by the Office of Graduate and International Admissions prior to registration. Teacher licensure is granted at the successful completion of the professional year; 12 additional hours may be taken to complete the master’s degree. For details, see the Graduate Catalog.
