Computational Fluid Dynamics Graduate Certificate
The College of Engineering offers a graduate certificate in computational fluid dynamics (CFD). The program is designed primarily for the part-time student interested in gaining dexterity in this subject by taking a graduate course sequence through distance education. The pertinent course work is archived at the College of Engineering Computational Fluid Dynamics Laboratory website, http://cfdlab.utk.edu, and is available on demand.
The 12-hour certificate is earned by completing ME 452 or ME 517 , ME 518 , and ME 644 . The 12-hour sequence is completed via an elective chosen by the participant subject to the approval of the department’s Director of Graduate Studies. The suggested elective is the first level graduate course in classical fluid dynamics, which may be credit transferred to UT from the student’s local university.
The sole academic prerequisite for the certificate program is a bachelor’s degree in engineering or an applied science (physics, mathematics, etc). Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Graduate School and be admitted thereto.
