Survey of ancient Mediterranean cultures that had extensive contacts with the Greeks and Romans and that ancient Greek and Roman sources frequently referred to as barbarians. Students will learn about different cultures by looking at their histories, social structures, beliefs, and material cultures, and then compare that information with Greek and Roman views.
