REST 336 - The Qur’an and the Literatures of Islam3 Credit Hours Focuses on expressions of religious devotion, transformation, and critique in the literatures of the Muslim world, as well as on the relationship between Islam, literature, and the written word in different temporal and geographical contexts. Topics may include: pilgrimage and migration, autobiography, theology, hagiography, conversion narratives, Sufi poetry and prose, post-colonial literature and Islam, gender, coming-of-age stories, Islam in the West.
