ANSC 531 - Comparative Nutritional Biochemistry and Metabolism4 Credit Hours Nomenclature, structures, functions, utilization, and deficiency symptoms of amino acids and proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals in carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. Biochemical pathways and cell signaling, energy availability and utilization, and metabolism of nutrients will be discussed in detail. Contact Hour Distribution: 3 hours lecture and 1 hour discussion. Recommended Background: Comparative animal nutrition course and organic chemistry courses.
