Admission Standards/Procedures

• Must be currently admitted to a UT Knoxville graduate program and be in good academic standing OR hold a Master’s degree or higher.
• Must submit an application to be formally admitted to the certificate through the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Academic Standards

Grade Point Average: To qualify for certificate completion, students must have at least a 3.00 grade point average in all courses attempted for graduate credit. Students who do not maintain a 3.00 grade point average are subject to denial of enrollment privileges. Student files are evaluated each semester to determine eligibility for continued enrollment.

Credit Hours Required

Minimum of 12 graduate credit hours. Total credit hours may vary based on the student’s academic record, experiences, and objectives. Students must complete a minimum of 12 graduate credit hours.

Required Courses

To complete the certificate, students must complete 12 credit hours from the course list below. Other courses for the specialization may be accepted upon approval by the Director of Graduate Studies.

• HBS 534 - Public Organization, Theory, and Behavior
• HBS 535 - Emergency Management
• HBS 537 - Leading Across Difference

Non-Course Requirements

To receive the certificate, students must:

• complete the Graduate Certificate Course Verification Form (located on the Graduate School webpage under the Forms Central tab) and
• through MyUTK, apply to graduate from the certificate program.
