Majors in history should prepare their programs in consultation with a departmental faculty advisor.
Continuing, returning, and transfer students must meet progression requirements before declaring a major in history.
A student may not declare a history major until he/she has completed both semesters, with a grade of C or better in each course, of a survey chosen from HIST 221 -HIST 222 , HIST 227 -HIST 228 , HIST 241 *-HIST 242 *, HIST 247 *-HIST 248 *, HIST 261 *-HIST 262 * or any two one-semester courses from any of these sequences. AP (with a score of 4 or 5) or transfer credit is acceptable to fulfill this requirement.
